우리는 몸을 보호하기 위해 집에 돌아오지만, 감정은 늘 바깥에 노출된 채로 살아간다. 김은혜의 작업은 이 불완전한 상태에서 출발한다. 쉽게 흔들리고 상처받는 감정에도 머물 수 있는 집이 필요하다는 자각, 그리고 그 집을 스스로 짓고 정리해 나가려는 조용한 의지. 작가는 캔버스 위에 감정을 위한 작은 집들을 하나씩 올려놓으며, 불안과 기쁨, 상처와 회복의 순간들을 질서 있게 배치한다.

감정의 집 시리즈 속 집들은 모두 다른 크기와 색을 지닌다. 어떤 감정은 크게 자리하고, 어떤 감정은 조심스럽게 한켠에 머문다. 그 곁에서 자라는 나무들은 가지를 여러 갈래로 뻗으며 성장하고, 이는 상처 이후에도 계속되는 내면의 회복과 확장을 상징한다. 화면을 내려다보는 듯한 구성은 마치 삶의 지도를 펼쳐 보는 경험을 만들어내며, 감정에 휘둘리기보다는 감정을 품은 채 살아가려는 태도를 담아낸다.

공간 시리즈에서 작가는 집 밖으로 나아간다. 집에서 태어난 존재들은 공간을 경험하고, 공간은 더 이상 배경이 아니라 기억과 감정이 스며든 또 하나의 주인공이 된다. 캐릭터 티키와 타카는 우리가 머무는 장소들을 가볍고 유쾌한 시선으로 통과하며, 평범한 일상의 공간이 얼마나 많은 이야기와 위로를 품고 있는지를 보여준다. 개인의 감정에서 시작된 이야기는 타인과의 관계, 그리고 우리가 함께 살아가는 세계로 확장된다.

House of Emotions는 잘 살기 위한 연습이자, 스스로를 돌보는 방식에 대한 기록이다. 이 전시는 관람자 각자에게 묻는다. 당신의 감정은 어디에 머물고 있는지, 그리고 그 감정을 위한 집은 어떤 모습인지. 김은혜의 화면 앞에서 우리는 잠시 멈춰 서서, 자신만의 삶의 지도를 조용히 떠올리게 된다.

We return home to protect our bodies, but our emotions often remain exposed to the outside world. Kim Eun Hye’s work begins from this imperfect condition, from the realization that even fragile, easily shaken emotions need a place to stay, and from the quiet determination to build and care for that place. On the canvas, the artist places small houses for emotions, arranging moments of anxiety and joy, wounds and recovery, into a gentle sense of order.

In the House of Emotions series, each house differs in size and color. Some emotions take up more space, while others rest quietly in a corner. Trees growing beside them extend their branches outward, symbolizing inner recovery and expansion that continues after pain. The bird’s-eye perspective unfolds like a map of life, suggesting a way of living not under the control of emotions, but alongside them.

In the Space series, the artist steps beyond the house. Space is no longer a backdrop but becomes a protagonist, infused with memory and emotion. The characters Tiki and Taka move through familiar places with a light, playful gaze, revealing how ordinary spaces hold stories and comfort. The personal emotional narrative gradually expands toward relationships and the shared world we inhabit.

House of Emotions is both a practice in living well and a record of self-care. The exhibition asks each viewer where their emotions rest, and what kind of house they live in. Before Kim Eun Hye’s paintings, we pause briefly, imagining our own map of life.
