익숙하고 대중적인 캐릭터를 통해 관객과 소통하는 스텔라 킴은 만화 속 인물을 사회적, 경제적, 정치적 메시지를 담은 시대의 상징으로 바라봅니다. 작업을 통해 인간 존재와 사회의 본질을 함께 탐구하고자 합니다. 이러한 시도는 관객이 작품을 감상하는 데서 멈추지 않고 각자의 이야기와 해석을 더해가며 예술 속에서 자신을 돌이켜보게 합니다.

팝아트 장르를 기반으로 ‘유년의 순수함을 지닌 영웅 ‘을 재해석하며, 어린시절의 희망과 순수함을 다시 떠올리는 여정을 그립니다. 이 작업에서 꿈은 특정한 이미지나 감정에 머무르지 않고, 유년의 기억과 현재의 인식이 겹쳐지며 사회와 인간을 다시 바라보게 하는 사유의 과정이자 관객 각자의 이야기가 더해지는 여정이 됩니다.

Through familiar and widely recognized characters, Stella Kim communicates with audiences by viewing figures from comics as symbols of their time—carrying social, economic, and political messages. Through her work, she seeks to explore both the nature of human existence and the structure of society. This approach encourages viewers not to stop at simply observing the artwork, but to add their own stories and interpretations, prompting reflection on themselves through the experience of art.

Based on the language of Pop Art, she reinterprets the idea of the “hero with childlike innocence,” tracing a journey that recalls the hope and purity of childhood. In these works, dreams do not remain confined to a single image or emotion. Instead, memories of childhood overlap with present awareness, becoming a process of reflection that invites viewers to reconsider society and humanity while adding their own narratives to the experience.
